Edinburgh Blues Club stages its final presentation of 2015 when Big Joe Louis appears at the Voodoo Rooms on Friday, December 4. Louis won consecutive Best Vocalist titles in the British Blues Awards during the 1990s and has worked with performers including David “Honeyboy” Edwards, R L Burnside, Lazy Lester, Homesick James, and Louisiana Red. The club returns to the Voodoo Rooms on January 20 when Paul Jones and Dave Kelly of the Blues Band will be the first guests of a new season that includes much in demand harmonica player Paul Lamb & the King Snakes.

Edinburgh Folk Club presents three concerts in December before taking a break over the Christmas holiday. Singer, songwriter and composer of the popular Scottish standard Always Argyll, Duncan McCrone appears with his band at the club on Wednesday, December 2. Irish troubadour Kieran Halpin follows on Wednesday, December 9 and Edinburgh-based singer Wendy Carle Taylor closes the current season on Wednesday, December 16. The club resumes promotions on Wednesday, January 6 with blues singer and one-man band Mike Whellans.

Aberdeen promoters Jazz at the Blue Lamp have three events in December before taking a break for the festive season. Bassist Euan Burton’s quartet plays at the promoters’ regular venue, the Blue Lamp in Gallowgate on Thursday, December 3. The action switches to the nearby Lemon Tree when jazz-funk-folk big band Fat-Suit’s Rubix tour with guest singer Angus Munro stops off in Aberdeen on December 10 before Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra returns to the Blue Lamp on December 17.

Dunfermline Arts Guild’s final Music on Sundays concert for 2015, featuring Serbian accordionist Djordje Gajic, goes ahead at the town’s Carnegie Hall annexe on December 13 at 7:30pm. A graduate of the Russian Academy of Music, Gajic has performed with the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the RSNO and BBC SSO and has given solo recitals throughout Europe. He is currently accordion professor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh and will be performing a programme including Bach, Scarlatti, Albeniz and Villa Lobos.
