Meryl Streep has outed herself as a fan of British reality TV shows Homes Under The Hammer and Come Dine With Me.
Appearing on The Graham Norton Show to promote her new film Florence Foster Jenkins with co-star Hugh Grant, she let slip her obsession with catching the daytime shows when she is in the UK.

She said: “I’m addicted to everything where they do real estate. I love Grand Designs and Homes Under the Hammer.
“Also Come Dine With Me is fabulous.”
The actress surprisingly revealed that she hates her Oscar-nominated performance in The French Lieutenant’s Woman.

Asked if there was a film in which she did not rate her performance, she replied: “Oh yes, but, I’m not going to tell you which film.
“You won’t guess because I collected awards for it and it was venerated but I was young and new at it and I wasn’t living the role.”
After her initial reticence, she revealed it was The French Lieutenant’s Woman, the 1981 drama in which she starred alongside Jeremy Irons as a Victorian couple caught in an affair and modern-day actors portraying their story.

Despite decades of famous roles, Meryl revealed that “the sky came down on me” in terms of being recognised only after 2006′s The Devil Wears Prada and 2008′s Mamma Mia,
She said: “I used to be able to float about between characters and somehow things changed.
“Everything was much bigger and I became a celebrity rather than an actress – there’s a difference. Everyone is really kind but it just gives you hyper self-awareness, which is not the greatest thing.”
Hugh, also appearing on the sofa, said Meryl and a “classy” script had lured him back into acting.

After telling director Stephen Frears that “showbiz is in my past”, he said: “He sent me the script and it was classy and I don’t do classy films. This was Meryl Streep and a rather good part.”
Of his part, he said: “I’m less bad than normal.”
Asked about working with Meryl, Hugh admitted: “I’ve never felt such fear.
“I had a whole year to dread actually having to do emotional scenes with Meryl Streep.
“So I did enormous amounts of preparation, which was all probably utterly useless.”
