A SALE of more than 250 artworks in aid of two charities includes the work of more than 60 of Scotland’s contemporary artists. Art for Hearts Sake at The Store Interiors, Anniesland, Glasgow, lasts until 7 May.

The sale supports the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and Marie Curie, who will each receive 50 per cent of the proceeds. A total of over £60,000 could be donated to the charities if everything is sold.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading charity for people with any terminal illness and Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is the only charity that provides hospice services in Scotland for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

THE CITIZENS Theatre is bringing its acclaimed new production of Trainspotting back to the theatre from October 18 to November 11.

The return of this revival production, directed by Gareth Nicholls, will also tour to the King’s Theatre in Edinburgh.

Trainspotting was first presented in a stage adaptation by Harry Gibson in the theatre’s Stalls Studio in 1994, just a year after the book’s publication, in a production directed by the Traverse Theatre's Ian Brown for Glasgow's Mayfest.

Gareth Nicholls, who also directed Blackbird and Into That Darkness at the Citizens said: "Irvine Welsh’s urgent and uncompromising story clearly still packs a punch – we saw audiences from all backgrounds connecting strongly to its heady mix of humour, heartache and heroin."

Tickets for Trainspotting at the Citizens Theatre will be available from May 16.
