MET with standing ovations at Cannes, this walk on the wild side New York drama might have been titled Robert Pattinson Drives a Stake Through the Heart of All That Teen Heart-throb Twilight Stuff. Pattinson plays Connie, a greasy haired punk who reckons he is doing his learning disabled brother Nick (Benny Safdie, also co-director) a favour by pulling him out of a therapy programme and into a career as a bank robber, a plan that goes predictably and horribly wrong. Good Time certainly puts the audience through an anxious time as Connie goes on a desperate odyssey through the night streets trying to put things right. This is not kick back and relax entertainment, and while Pattinson is terrific, giving Connie the full Mean Streets treatment, the character is so awful (his love of dogs aside), it is tough going spending 102 minutes in his company.
