  • What is your Fringe show about?

It’s a look at toxic masculinity and the #Metoo movement through character comedy. I play my worst version of myself, which is only marginally better than the best version of myself. Come spend an hour with me at my worst. That’s a terrible sales pitch.

  • How many times/many years have you appeared at the Fringe?

This is my tenth fringe. Having previously come up with sketch shows, a mixed bill show, double-act shows, and solo shows. I’ve never done a dance show, that’s the world’s loss.

  • What’s your most memorable moment from the Fringe?

I never remember the fringe. It’s like childbirth. The second it is over you forget about it and that’s what makes you want to come back.

  • What’s the worst thing about the Fringe?

Often me.

  • If you were not a performer what would you be doing?

Well, when I am not performing I am writing so I would probably just be writing all the time. Well, not all the time, I’d also eat and swim, and that’s it.

  • How do you prepare for a performance?

‘Banana, water, juice’ – that’s the phrase I use for my vocal warm ups.

Trams.

  • What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve ever done?

Flyering Sean Connery on the Royal Mile was a particular highlight. It was the most Scottish thing I have ever been involved in. The next year I tossed the caber with Greyfriar’s Bobby and The Krankies, which topped it.

  • Favourite Scottish food/drink?

Vegetarian haggis from the Baked Potato Shop and Irn Bru. The official drink of Irn man.

  • Sum up your show in three words

Men, be better.

Show summary

Tom’s girlfriend has vanished, so he has done what any right-minded man would do and turned his search for her into an "important" piece of multi-character multimedia theatre. In reality, It’s Always Infinity is a narrative-driven character comedy show about toxic masculinity and the questionable role of the male creator, presented by a version of Tom who sees himself as 'one of the good guys' but is anything but.
