THE Hebridean Celtic Festival 2018 is set to become the most successful in its 23-year history after selling out all four nights.

Festival-goers have snapped up the few remaining tickets for the multi award-winning event, which started on Wednesday and closes on Saturday evening.

Audiences from across the world will enjoy a wide range of acts in the Stornoway-based venue, including headliners Deacon Blue, The Fratellis, Eddi Reader, Skipinnish and Roddy Woomble.

The 2016 HebCelt festival, which was previously the most popular event to date, saw Runrig perform their final studio album, "The Story".

Caroline Maclennan, director of the HebCelt Festival, said: "The demand for tickets has been phenomenal. This has been due to the incredible support we get from our sponsors and supporters, as well as our wonderful community."

Among those who travelled to HebCelt Festival is Dr Vicki Ooi and Oscar Fung from Hong Kong's Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC).

They hope to gain insight into the event's sense of community support in preparation for their own arts festival.

Dr Vicki Ooi, artistic director of AFTEC, said: "This festival shares an important message - to keep trying. It started out very small and now, 23 years later, it has been a huge success.

"It has helped to stimulate the local economy and brought people together, and I want to recreate that in a declining village called Sha Lo Wan in Hong Kong."
