Saturday Night Treat

ACCLAIMED performer Richard Winsor is set to play Tony Manero, the role which famously rocketed John Travolta to screen stardom, in a new stage production of Saturday Night Fever.

Winsor was a principle dancer with Matthew Bourne for ten years.

He has also starred in the likes of the celebrated production of Swan Lake, as well as Dorian Gray, Edward Scissorhands and The Car Man.

Winsor appeared in BBC medical drama Casualty as Caleb Knight for three years until his dramatic exit last year.

His character lost his life in a knife fight.

Saturday Night Fever runs at the Edinburgh Playhouse from October 23-27.

Extraordinary

GROUNDBREAKING new outdoor circus show What Am I Worth? from Extraordinary Bodies featuring disabled and non-disabled circus performers, actors and musicians is set to be staged in Glasgow.

The artists will perform on the bespoke set created especially for What Am I Worth? by Will Datson.

“The structure is a new piece of non-traditional circus equipment that enables all types of bodies to hang, balance, climb and swing from it,” said a spokesman.

The show, it is claimed, is a metaphor for the world around us.

“In a world where there is not enough to go around, survival hangs in the balance and people are made to prove their worth.

“Who will be left when the world stops spinning?”

What Am I Worth?, August 4-5, Go Live! at the Green, Greendyke Street, Glasgow, 2 - 6pm

Adult Behaviour

COMEDIENNE and viral internet sensation Ashley Storrie returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with a brand-new show about not growing up.

With the world most likely ending quite soon, Storrie believes we should all have a laugh and be a bit more honest particularly about the myth of “adulthood”.

She claims; “Nobody really grows up, we’re just great at pretending!”

Storrie’s performance, described by Dawn French as ‘A total revelation” runs at the Counting House, August 2-26.

Elvis Back In The Building.

It runs on February 4 at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Piggery

COMIC lady Lour Sanders presents her most confessional show yet, Shame Pig, exploring the themes of shame, sobriety and unrequested sex.

“Yes, this little pig is discussing the big topics like spirituality, shamans and dangly labias – all packed in to a lunch-time show.”

The spokesman adds; “Lou Sanders creates unforgettably warm comedy that examines society through skewed logic, offbeat opinions and sometimes graphically honest stories.”

He adds; “So come wallow in the muck with this unique talent as she performs her most grown-up show to date. You’ll be squealing all over the place.”

The Monkey Barrell Comedy Club, August 2-26.
