Kylie Minogue is set to play Edinburgh Castle next year, it has been revealed.

The Australian pop queen will perform in the Scottish capital for the first time since 1991 on July 14 next year.

Next summer's gig is part of a series of special shows which will see Kylie performing a series of hits from her 30-year back catalogue.

Mark Mackie, director of Castle Concerts, said: "We are delighted to have Kylie play Edinburgh Castle this summer.

"Without doubt, she is a true global superstar and voice of a generation, the atmosphere on the night will be truly electrifying."

Nick Finnigan, executive manager at Edinburgh Castle, added: "Kylie Minogue's famous pop songs are sure to appeal to a wide audience and we look forward to hosting her next year when Edinburgh Castle once again transforms into the city's premier entertainment venue, with its stunning stage and unrivalled backdrop."

Tickets go on sale on Friday, November 16 at 9am.
