Luther wins ratings battle with end of fifth series
The finale of the fifth series of Luther attracted 4.6 million viewers, winning its slot.
Starring Idris Elba as the haunted rogue detective, the BBC One drama had a 21.7% share and peaked with 4.7 million on Friday night.
It beat Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on ITV, which notched up 3.7 million, including catch-up.
Billy Connolly: Made In Scotland, on BBC Two, was seen by 2.2 million viewers and The Big Fat Quiz Of Everything on Channel 4 had 1.7 million.
Elba’s character Luther was joined by his murderous sidekick Alice Morgan, played by Ruth Wilson, in the series.
Luther was broadcast across successive nights beginning on January 1.
