Carla Lippis' new show, Cast a Dark Shadow, is on at The Boards during August.

1. Tell us about your Fringe show

Carla Lippis – Cast a Dark Shadow is a bit like watching Iggy Pop and Nancy Sinatra competing to possess my soul at a rocking cabaret show in Twin Peak's Black Lodge, soundtracked by psychedelic guitar, thunderous piano and a variety of electronics.

2. Best thing about the Fringe?

Playing a show every day unleashes my inner freak – it's a beast that grows slowly over the course of the month.

3. Worst thing about the Fringe?

The disappointment that you feel when you don't get a postcard from the landlord whose holiday you just funded.

4. How many years have you been coming to the Fringe?

This is my second year.

5. Favourite Fringe venue?

The Boards at Edinburgh Playhouse – I'm so happy to be performing there this year along with all the other Civil Disobedience artists!

6. Best Fringe memory?

Fringe is like the seventies – if you can remember it, you probably weren't there!

7. Best heckle?

Not exactly a heckle, but it was great when a member of my audience became hysterical, started flailing her arms around, and we had to stop the show. I never knew mottephobia was an actual thing!

8. Craziest on stage experience?

From my days in a punk band - picking shards of broken glass out of my feet after dancing barefoot on Motely Crue's stage mat.

9. How do you wind down after a show?

I get my feet massaged for tips by impoverished members of my street team.

10. What do you love about Scotland?

The cold weather! As a die-hard lover of makeup I enjoy being somewhere where my facial cement doesn't slide straight off my face – unlike Australia.

11. What do you like about Edinburgh?

The romance of the architecture, the friendliness of the people, and the abundance of great food.

12. Favourite Scottish food/drink?

A haggis supper with chips, cheese and curry sauce, washed down with a bottle of Innes & Gunn.

13. Sum up your show in three words

Rock and Roll.
