JAZZ Nairn has announced its spring programme.

The organisation that emerged following the death of the internationally regarded local impresario Ken Ramage continues its aim of bringing nationally and internationally renowned musicians to the Highlands and begins its latest concert series with saxophonist-clarinettist John Burgess’s Classic Jazz Quintet on Saturday, March 25. Burgess’s band specialises in the music of jazz pioneers including Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke and Jelly Roll Morton and will be followed on Saturday, April 8 by pianist Euan Stevenson and saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski, the co-leaders of the New Focus group playing their own duo arrangements of jazz standards from the Duke Ellington band book and other sources.

Long-time Nairn favourite, New York-based Italian pianist Rossano Sportiello makes a return visit with bassist Dave Green and drummer Steve Brown on Saturday, May 13.
