GREEK singer Irini Arabatzi will be jazz combo Spark Trio’s latest guest in their monthly series of live music sessions at Swing in Hope Street, Glasgow this evening. Arabatzi moved to Glasgow in 2016 and has performed on BBC Radio 3 with Euroradio Jazz Orchestra directed by Tommy Smith and with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra performing the music of trumpeter Kenny Wheeler. With Spark Trio she'll present reworkings of traditional Greek and classical pieces alongside creative arrangements of jazz standards and original compositions from the trio.

PERTH'S Southern Fried weekend of music at the end of next month has a change of programme at Perth Concert Hall on the evening of Saturday July 29. Rodney Crowell has cancelled all of his European summer dates, but the festival has secured the services of Beth Nielsen Chapman in his place.
The Nashville songwriter, pictured, whose fans include Elton John, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Olivia Newton John and Bette Midler, joins Loudon Wainwright III on the Saturday night stage.

THE TRAVERSE Theatre’s Monday Music series continues in the theatre bar during June, with award-winning Highland traditional music and song group Daimh appearing tonight. Harpist and singer Rachel Newton’s band appears on June 12 and Nashville-based group the Danberrys appear on June 19. Soundhouse, the organisation, behind the Monday concerts, also presents harpist Ailie Robertson’s The Secret North project at the theatre on Sunday, June 18.

EDINBURGH Folk Club has announced an international programme for June and July, leading up to the summer break. Anglo-American fiddle and guitar team James Hickman & Dan Cassidy appear at the club on Wednesday, followed by guitarist Steve Hicks and singer Lynn Goulbourn on June 14th. French quartet Tildon Krautz play on June 21 and Australian harmony and ballads specialists Cloudtreet appear on June 28.
Glasgow-based pipes and guitar duo Eddie Seaman & Luc McNally are the guests on July 5 and singer-songwriter Bob Fox arrives from the North East of England on July 12. All club nights take place at Summerhall. The club also stages a concert in tribute to its former chairman and emcee, the late Paddy Bort, at the Queen’s Hall on June 8, when Rab Noakes, Malinky, Karine Polwart and the Cathal McConnell Trio will be among the guests.
