TICKETS go on sale this Saturday [June 24] for North Berwick’s tenth annual Fringe by the Sea festival. Taking place from Monday, August 7 to Sunday, August 13, the event involves the whole community and alongside top musical attractions this year’s programme includes film, poetry, literature, theatre, comedy, children’s shows, talks, walks and social history.

Among the musicians lined-up to appear at venues throughout the town are KT Tunstall, pictured, the Rezillos, Steve Harley, blues singer-guitarist Eric Bibb, Phil Cunningham & Aly Bain, Boys of the Lough founder Cathal McConnell’s trio and leading jazz talents Chris Barber and saxophone and piano duo Tommy Smith & Brian Kellock.

THE TRON Theatre in Glasgow’s popular monthly Sunday afternoon jazz sessions are set to continue over the summer. Pianist Brian Kellock and singer Fionna Duncan are June’s guests this Sunday (25th) and drummer Doug Hough’s Elusive Tree Ensemble present world music influenced melodies played by six of Scotland’s leading young jazz talents on July 30. Saxophonist Laura Macdonald and pianist Euan Stevenson play jazz standards and original compositions on August 27.

The sessions, which are sponsored by Makar Gin and take place in the theatre’s Victorian Bar, begin at 2:00pm.
