UK's Best Place to Live (C4, 8pm)

Sarah Beeny has recently branched out into the world of collectibles and antiques by presenting Channel 4's Four Rooms, but returns to more familiar territory with this new documentary. She wants to find out where the best place to live in Britain is, using detailed statistical analysis of key factors as a guide. On her list of 'must-have' elements are affordable housing, job prospects, reasonable child care, and quality of family life and social life. Once all her data has been collated, Beeny will then reveal which location scores the highest - and you may be surprised by the result. Among the places she visits are Belfast, Bristol, Edinburgh, Cumbria, Manchester and Sheffield - all of which are special destinations, but which of them is Beeny's best?

Tales from the Coast with Robson Green (ITV, 8pm)

The actor's tour of the UK's coastal landscape concludes as he visits Essex and Suffolk, beginning with the salt marshes of the Blackwater Estuary, where he tries to run the route of the Maldon Mud Race. At Clacton-on-Sea, Robson reunites a group of Mods and Rockers, who previously made headlines via a dramatic clash on the resort town's beach in 1964. He also takes in Orford Ness, a giant shingle spit that once served as a top-secret military base, and played a vital role in Britain's defence in both World Wars, and in Southwold he meets the owners of some of Britain's most sought-after beach huts.

Secret Life of Dogs (ITV, 9pm)

The documentary exploring the relationship between humans and dogs concludes, as narrator Martin Clunes offers an insight into the science behind the close bond people form with their canine companions. While dogs are said to share more than 99 per cent of their DNA with grey wolves, recent research has indicated that this link might actually be the key to why dogs have become the perfect family pet. The pack mentality of their lupine ancestors remains in domestic dogs, inspiring what seems to be a fierce loyalty to their human families, and Martin highlights real life instances where this instinct has prompted dogs to undertake remarkable feats.

Inside No 9 (BBC2, 10pm)

The opening episode of season three aired at Christmas, but here's the real gift - another five nail-biting, scary and darkly amusing tales from Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith. What's more, a fourth series has already been commissioned, so there's even more fun and games on their way. Here, Jason Watkins and Philip Glenister make guest appearances as two of a group of friends who, after a game of badminton, head to a restaurant for some tapas and a few drinks. It's a lot of fun - until the question of paying the bill comes up, turning what had been a pleasant evening into a shocking event that will change the lives of those involved. As you might expect it's a taut, perfectly timed 30 minutes - just keep in mind what happens the next time you head out for a meal with pals.

Staying Healthy: A Doctor's Guide (C4, 10pm)

Dr Pixie McKenna is back on the box with a fascinating documentary. She (or at least a few boffin researchers dragged in by Channel 4) has crunched the NHS's health data to reveal what made people ill in 2016. She believes that if members of the public understood when and how the nation falls ill, many would stand a better chance of staying well in the year ahead. She reveals how changing the clocks could be a health hazard, and why it's not just cases of cold and flu that rocket when the kids go back to school.
