Acclaimed Chinese artist Zhang Yanzi shows off her latest creation after it was put on display in Surgeons’ Halls Museums, Edinburgh.

The work, called Capsule Packets, is going on show as part of the artist’s first exhibition in the UK.

It also marks a first for Surgeons’ Hall itself, which has never previously presented a contemporary art exhibition.

One of China’s best-known artists, Ms Yanzi is currently based in Beijing and serves as the editor-in-chief of Cafa Art Info at the country’s Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Her new work, which investigates themes of healing, energy and human existence from a Chinese and a universal perspective, has been created in response to the anatomical specimens and artefacts kept at Surgeons’ Hall Museums and the Royal College of Surgeons.

The exhibition also comes after the artist’s residency at the museums and the Royal College last year.
