Stagecoach has appointed a new boss for its North America business.

Long serving president and chief operating officer Dale Moser has decided to step down from a full-time executive role and will become chairman of the division.

He is being replaced by Linda Burtwistle from Monday.

Ms Burtwistle has previously held senior finance roles at Stagecoach and its Virgin Rail Group joint venture.

She joined FirstGroup America in 2008 and was president of its First Student division until January last year.

She said: “I am looking forward to returning to Stagecoach and working with a dynamic business and committed group of employees.”

Mr Moser, who has run the North America business for 15 years, said his new role will include engagement with government stakeholders and other decision makers.

Martin Griffiths, Stagecoach chief executive, said he was delighted to still have access to Mr Moser’s wide range of knowledge.

He added: “I am delighted to welcome Linda back to Stagecoach. She has extensive experience of the North America public transportation sector across different markets and her appointment will continue our sector-leading focus on safety, value, innovation and customer service.”
