Lanarkshire-based NVT Group has sold its Flame Multimedia subsidiary to fatBuzz in a six-figure deal which it says will help it fund its legal action against the Ryder Cup organisers.

The IT services business says the deal will mean its clients will now be able to tap into services including web design, eCommerce, video production and social media management.

Gordon White, managing director of fatBuzz, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to build on the good work NVT Group have been doing through Flame Multimedia". He said the move coincided with fatBuzz making a concerted move South of the border with three recent contract wins around the Midlands..

Stephen Park Brown, managing director, said: “Our clients will now be able to utilise a full range of marketing expertise under one roof. This allows NVT Group to concentrate on its core ICT offerings.”

He said the sale also allowed “to further bolster the war chest” ahead of an impending case in the Court of Session against Ryder Cup Europe.

NVT started proceedings nine months ago claiming that RCE had failed to reimburse the company for all of its high-profile work relating to last year’s Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

The firm, one of a number of Scottish suppliers brought in by RCE for the event and for this year’s Scottish Open, was tasked with providing expertise to broadcasters and ensuring that the multiple on-site locations had an internet connection.

NVT admits having received its contractual payment, but claims it is still due £344,000 for additional services and equipment. RCE has said it will “vigorously defend” the claim.
