Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Carlisle on Monday to a top of 225.5p per kg and an average of 181.7p (-18.4p on the week), while 35 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 223.5p and levelled at 194.7p (+1.6p). Seven prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 177.5p and averaged 142.8p (-24.4p). Forty-four prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 224.5p and averaged 183.4p (-13.8p), while 81 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 170.5p and levelled at 139.8p (-22.4p).

In the rough ring 145 beef cows sold to 205.5p and averaged 115p (+6.3p), while 212 dairy cows peaked at 162.5p and levelled at 84.8p (+1p). Thirteen bulls sold to 140.5p and averaged 118.1p (+21.8p).

The firm also sold 2401 prime lambs to a top of £112 per head and 265.8p per kg to average 172.4p (-5.5p).

A small show of 41 cast sheep was topped by Texel ewes that fetched £67.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 16 prime heifers at Ayr to a top of 231p and an average of 222.4p, while a prime, beef-bred bullock fetched 220p. Five prime, B&W bullocks averaged 136p.

In the rough ring 71 beef cows sold to 146.7p and averaged 98.8p while 89 dairy cows peaked at 119.7p and levelled at 86.4p. Eleven bulls sold to 111.8p and averaged 97.4p.

There were also 9 dairy cattle that sold to £1700 for a second-calved HF cow and averaged £1385.
