A SCOTTISH company that sells water sourced from private springs near whisky distilleries has secured its first deal in Russia, marking its 15th export market.

Uisge Source spring waters are specially made to ‘open up’ the natural flavours and aromas of Scotch whisky.

Since its establishment in 2013 by whisky industry veteran Graeme Lindsay, Uisge Source has won a coveted Scottish Edge award – for new companies with high growth potential – and is on track to sell 500,000 bottles during 2017.

The latest deal sees 45,000 bottles head for Moscow.

Each of the three Uisge Source spring waters have a different chemistry and are sourced from the main whisky regions of Scotland – Highlands, Speyside and Islay.

As a result of increased demand the Clydebank-based company is in the process of moving to larger production premises and has taken on more staff in recent months.

The water is available in a number of hotels, bars and off-licences that specialise in whisky.

As well as new sales to Russia, Uisge Source has recently shipped more than 50,000 bottles to countries including France, Germany Switzerland, Poland and Italy and it is available in 85 premium gift stores in Sweden.

In 2017 the company hopes to build sales in the US, Canada, Taiwan, China and Japan.

Graeme Lindsay said: “I’m delighted that the idea of special water for whisky is starting to take off and is finding popularity with whisky enthusiasts. I’m grateful to suppliers, staff and customers and everyone else who has helped and supported us over the last two years and I look forward to introducing new products and continued success during 2017 and beyond.”

The waters are sold in 100ml glass bottles and are sourced from the Ardilistry Spring on Islay; the St Colman’s Well in Ross-shire; and the Cairngorms Well.
