CLYDESIDE construction-industry sub-contractor the Veitchi Group is launching a year-long series of events aimed at fostering employee engagement as it marks its first century in business.

The group, which last year relocated its headquarters back to Cambuslang after 50 years in Rutherglen, aims to use events including a virtual cycle around its 13 offices to engage all staff members at the same time as promoting wellbeing.

Managing director Jim Preston said: “To reach a century in business is a fantastic achievement and an incredibly proud day for everyone at the Veitchi Group.

“Everyone contributes to the continued success of the group – from flooring to contracting, building preservation and house building – so we wanted to ensure all of our staff feel inspired to contribute to the next century of business.”

Mr Preston added that the business, which made a pre-tax profit of £1.4 million on turnover of £36.8m in the year to November 2015, the most recent period for which accounts are available, was preparing to reveal robust accounts for the year to November 2016.

“After four years of consistent profit growth, we expect another year of solid financial returns to be delivered by the group, showing improvements in both turnover and retained profit,” he said.

The privately held company is currently owned by 70 shareholders, some of whom are staff members.
