PAISLEY-BASED JR Group has secured £35 million of orders for its new construction division within its first year of trading.

The company, which has traditionally focused on scaffolding and building services, said the division has worked on contracts such as a new affordable housing in Luss Village, Loch Lomond, the refurbishment of a former mill in Denny and a new doctor’s surgery in Ratho.

I in addition it is poised to undertake work this year on projects in Glasgow, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.

The order outlook is sufficiently promising for the firm to commit to taking on three apprentices.

JR Group, founded in 1995 by John and Anne-Marie Horne, kicked off its foray into construction with the appointment of managing director Gary McGregor in February last year.

Mr McGregor said: “The company has been deeply entrenched in the construction business since it was established. Hence it was a natural progression to set up our own dedicated construction division and we are delighted with the progress made to date.

“We are very thankful to our customers for the opportunities created and to the network of consultants for their work throughout the year, as well as our employees for their continual support.”

Mr Horne added: “We are delighted just how well the first year has gone.

“It’s exciting times for our group, however, we’re not complacent and are very much aware of that we need to continue to excel.”

JR Group has invested £150,000 to expand and upgrade its premises in Paisley.

Work is also under way to create new offices, warehousing and storage facilities for let.
