Wallets Marts sold 376 store heifers in Castle Douglas on Monday to a top of £1365 per head and 272.4p per kg to average £844.81 and 233.4p (+13.6p on the fortnight), while 620 store bullocks peaked at £1270 and 296.2p to level at £945.93 and 249.8p (+20.7p).
The firm went on to sell 373 prime hoggs at the same venue yesterday to a top of £83 per head and 196.1p per kg to average £66.13 and 166.6p (-5.5p on the week), while a couple of Zwartble prime lambs sold to £90 and averaged £86 and 161.2p.
The 162 cast sheep forward looked a sharper trade on the week with ewes selling to £90 for Rouge, £77 for Mules and £60 for Blackfaces.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 8 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 245p and an average of 230.7p, while a couple of prime bullocks peaked at 193p and levelled at 186.5p.
In the rough ring 51 beef cows averaged 141.9p and 104 dairy cows levelled at 111.9p.
A small show of 5 dairy cattle sold to £1580 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1072.
