C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 157 store heifers in Dumfries on Monday to a top of 250p per kg and an average of 217.9p, while 109 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 248.1p and levelled at 221.2p. Twenty store, B&W bullocks sold to 163p and averaged 143.8p, while 25 store bulls peaked at 220p and levelled at 168.1p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 12 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1388.80 per head and 235p per kg to average £1252.02 and 227.5p.

In the rough ring 64 beef cows sold to £1190 and 178p to average 143.7p, while 99 dairy cows peaked at £1160 and 145.7p to level at 115.7p. Seventeen clean OTM cattle sold to £1470 and 186.9p to average 152.1p, while 13 bulls peaked at £1180 and 133.3p to level at 116.8p.

There were also 11 dairy cattle forward that sold to £1180 on two occasions, both for Holstein Friesian heifers, and averaged £1101.

Wallets Marts sold 98 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £94 per head and 200p per kg to average £61.79 and 140.7p, while 9 prime lambs peaked at £104 and 222.7p to level at £98.22 and 211.5p.
