Travel firm makes UK sales hire

CORPORATE travel firm, Colpitts World Travel has appointed Anita Marchiori to head up its sales operations across the UK.
Australian native Ms Marchiori will relocate from London to Colpitts’ European headquarters in Edinburgh
Prior to her move to Scotland, Ms Marchiori spent three years in London managing business travel for Flight Centre, a firm she initially joined in Melbourne in 2011. Her appointment marks further investment into Colpitts from its US parent Direct Travel, which acquired the business last year.  
The role sees Ms Marchiori take responsibility for all aspects of corporate travel sales in Scotland and the rest of the UK and will also help in developing the Direct Travel brand across Europe.

While we continue to operate in a challenging economic environment, her appointment further demonstrates the commitment of our parent company.”
 

Renewable recruitment for firm

LAW firm Gillespie Macandrew has bolstered its energy, natural resources and strategic land team with the recruitment of Legal Director Simon Williams. 
Mr Williams is dual-qualified in both Scotland and England and Wales and specialises in renewable energy and strategic land development projects. He also has experience in a variety of complex property work including minerals, investment, commercial development and security transactions.
He joins a ten-strong team in Gillespie Macandrew’s energy sector following a successful year of business growth for the team, including advising Rio Tinto in a £330 million deal for the sale of Alcan Aluminium UK. He will be a key contributor to the firm’s upcoming major projects. 
Derek McCulloch, head of energy, natural resources and strategic land at the firm, said: “As we continue to build strength in depth Simon’s expertise and drive will also assist us in our continuing development and attraction of talented lawyers.”
Chief executive Chris West said the new division was a key area for future growth.

New division launched at Savills

SAVILLS has launched a commercial and mixed use development team in Scotland, which will be headed by Bruce Patrick, who moves from the investment team.
Mr Patrick will be responsible for delivering strategic development projects across a variety of sectors from offices, retail and industrial to alternatives such as student accommodation and hotels. 
He will be assisted by Ebba Mowat, based in Savills Glasgow office, who has significant experience of working with key funders and developers in her previous role in Savills Investment team. The new division will integrate with Savill’s Scottish residential development team and its planning team.
