Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 101 store heifers in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of 246.4p per kg and an average of 205.6p, while 126 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 270p and levelled at 218.6p. Forty-four store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 195.3p and averaged 145.8p.

The firm went on to sell 1729 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £96 per head and 223.8p per kg to average 166.1p (+3p on the week).

There were also 333 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £146.50 for Texels and averaged £70.14, while light ewes peaked at £78.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £48.11.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 47 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 241p and an average of 214p (-1.1p), while 13 prime bullocks peaked at 225p and levelled at 198.3p (-4.8p).

In the rough ring 59 beef cows that sold to 185p and averaged 128.6p (-3.1p).

There were also 1700 prime hoggs that sold to £92 and 227p to average 165.5p (+0.5p).

The 280 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £115 for Suffolks and average £78, while light ewes peaked at £75 for Cheviots and levelled at £46.

The firm also sold 18 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 248.5p and an average of 207.8p (+15.6p), while 25 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 228.5p and levelled at 198.1p (+3.4p). Three prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 165.5p and averaged 147.2p (+15.3p). Forty-two prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 223.5p and averaged 178.1p (+6.8p), while 44 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 184.5p and levelled at 153.9p (+9.6p).

In the rough ring 61 beef cows sold to 214.5p and averaged 155p (+14.5p), while 193 dairy cows peaked at 171.5p and levelled at 107.5p (+3.4p). Fourteen bulls sold to 183.5p and averaged 146.3p (+9.2p).

There were also 1658 prime hoggs that sold to £100.80 and 257p to average 174.2p (+7.5p).

A small show of 33 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £100 for Texels and £79.50 for Swaledales.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 246p and an average of 228.3p (no change), while 13 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 201.2p (-3.3p). Twelve prime, B&W bullocks sold to 143.5p and averaged 136.6p (no change).

In the rough ring 24 beef cows averaged 128p (-3p), while 55 dairy cows levelled at 91p (-9p). Three bulls averaged 120p (no comparison).

The firm also sold 2693 prime hoggs to a top of £97.50 and 237.8p to average 165.8p (+0.5p).

The 516 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £137.50 for Texels and average £71.15, while light ewes peaked at £71.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £40.91.
