THE debut single malt from the Glasgow Distillery Company has sold out after the release sparked interest from whisky lovers at home and abroad.

The 5,000 bottles of the 1770 Glasgow single malt Scotch whisky sold out within days, after interested buyers were invited to take part in an online ballot. Malt enthusiasts in Hong Kong, Australia, North America, Japan and the UK had registered.

Liam Hughes, who founded the distillery with Ian McDougall and Mike Hayward, said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled at the reception our first single malt whisky has received.”
