A SCOTTISH gin which has been at the vanguard of the spirit’s renaissance over the last decade has unveiled its first product extension.
Inver House Distillers has unveiled a “Master’s Cut” version of its Caorunn Gin, which is made at the Balmenach Distillery in the Highlands. It comes as Caorunn, launched in 2009, was revealed this week to have seen sales increase by 34 per cent in the year ended September 30.
The new expression will initially be available in selected Dufry World Duty Free airport shops in the UK for three months from July 11, before becoming widely available in duty free stores from October.
At 48 per cent alcohol by volume, Inver House said it will have the highest strength of any gin in British airports. It is described as having “an exceptionally fresh, clean flavour, bursting with vibrant juniper and the delicious soft fruity notes of rowan and apple”.
James Bateman of Inver House said: “When Caorunn was launched in 2009, the Scottish gin boom had yet to happen, but we were confident that a spirit of such exceptional quality and character would be successful. We felt that the time was right to build on our success.”
