Wallets Marts sold five store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £840 per head and 202.9p per kg to average £645 and 190p, while 39 store bullocks peaked at £1040 and 223p to level at £858 and 194.7p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1101 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £98 and 198.8p to average 177.4p (-6.4p on the week).

The firm also sold 300 heavy cast ewes to a top of £148 for a Texel and an average of £71.20, while 201 light/export-type ewes peaked at £92.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £42.50.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 36 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 255p and an average of 226p (-4p), while 26 prime bullocks peaked at 250p and levelled at 211p (no change). A couple of prime bulls sold to 216p and averaged 192p (no comparison).

In the rough ring 51 beef cows sold to 211p and averaged140p (-8p).

There were also 1079 prime lambs that sold to £108 and 210p to average 183.7p (-15p).

The 509 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £101 for Suffolks and average £83, while light ewes peaked at £89 for Cheviots and levelled at £53.

The firm also sold 16 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 245.5p and an average of 196.5p (-1.7p), while 26 prime bullocks peaked at 227.5p and levelled at 209.1p (-0.5p). A prime, dairy-bred bullock fetched 169.5p. Fifty-six prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 238.5p and averaged 187.6p (-5.9p), while 40 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 178.5p and levelled at 153.6p (no change).

In the rough ring 204 beef cows sold to 231.5p and averaged 133.5p (-2p), while 225 dairy cows peaked at 147.5p and levelled at 100.9p (-2.4p). Ten bulls sold to 177.5p and averaged 125.9p (-10.3p).

There were also 1345 prime lambs that sold to £108.80 and 235.4p to average 185.5p (-13.5p).

The 160 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £105.50 for Texels and averaged £66.60, while 76 light ewes peaked at £51 for Swaledales and levelled at £30.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 23 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 252p and an average of 240.5p (-4.1p), while 7 prime bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 213.5p (-4.8p).

In the rough ring 50 beef cows averaged 128p (+1.2p) and 54 dairy cows levelled at 109p (-4.4p).

The firm also sold 696 prime lambs to a top of £99.50 and 217p to average 176p (-10p).

A good show of 211 heavy cast ewes sold to £141.50 for Texels and averaged £82.58, while 432 light ewes peaked at £75 for Cheviots and levelled at £48.62.
