Chief executive of SP Energy Networks Frank Mitchell has been appointed as the new chair of Skills Development Scotland.

Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills John Swinney announced the appointment of Mr Mitchell, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the energy sector and is currently co-chair of the Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board.

He also chairs Energy Skills Action Group for Scotland and brings extensive experience of working with customers, government, regulations and trade unions.
