Savills boosts business property team
PROPERTY firm Savills has expanded its Scottish business agency team with the appointment of Mike Irvine and Hugh Rutherford as directors in its Edinburgh office, and Colin McGhee as associate director in Glasgow.
All three have joined from Montagu Evans. Mr Irvine, who has 22 years’ experience in the property sector, was a partner specialising in office agency and development. Mr Rutherford, pictured, was also a partner at Montagu Evans, and has 36 years’ experience in business space. Mr McGhee has worked in the property sector in Glasgow for seven years, advising landlords, occupiers and developers.
David Cobban, head of Savills Glasgow, said: “The arrival of Colin in Glasgow, and Mike and Hugh in Edinburgh, will undoubtedly help us to deliver our ambitions, to allow us to offer our clients the very best, building on Savills strong national business space network with local knowledge.”
Housebuilder Muir hires sales chief
MUIR Homes, the Fife-based housebuilder, has brought in Ash Sheikh as its new sales and marketing director.
Mr Sheikh, pictured, who has around 20 years’ experience in the sector, has joined family-owned Muir from Barratt Homes East Scotland, where he had been senior manager since 2008. He spent 10 years as a financial adviser facilitating home purchases before joining Barratt.
Mr Sheikh said: “I am looking forward to working as part of such a successful, ambitious and forward thinking company, and am ready for the challenges and opportunities this will bring. I have worked all over Scotland and England, so have an in-depth knowledge of the housing market as well as regional economic trends.”
Alastair White, managing director of Muir Homes, said: “Ash is a fantastic addition to our team and I am delighted to have him on board. He is talented, inspiring and has a wealth of directly relevant experience.”
New business chief for Scots rural body
SCOTTISH Land & Estates has hired a new head of business.
Tony Stevenson has joined the organisation following an association with SLE stretching back to 2010.
He previously provided consultancy services on logistics and infrastructure for the SLE’s events calendar, and since 2014 has been working to facilitate new commercial and sponsorship opportunities for the organisation.
In his new role, he will work with Dee Ward, vice chair of operations, and executive director Sarah-Jane Laing to increase new work, improve member services and increase business effectiveness. This includes the day to day management of finance, membership, IT and infrastructure functions.
