WOOD has won a $43 million (£34m) contract to construct an 80 mile steel pipeline to carry natural gas liquids across Texas.
The success will help Aberdeen-based Wood in the company’s efforts to reduce its reliance on the North Sea oil services market, which shrunk amid the fallout from the crude price plunge between 2014 and 2016.
Andrew Stewart, who runs the Wood division that provides support for US facilities, said the contract win strengthened the company’s position as a major midstream player.
He added: “This is a strategic pipeline for the US and we are proud to play our part in delivering this milestone project. “
Wood will do the work for a business it described as a large-cap midstream company but did not name.
