GRAHAM’S The Family Dairy is broadening its product range with the launch of skyr, a cultured dairy product that hails from Iceland, after securing listings in Sainsbury and Aldi stores across Scotland.
Robert Graham, managing director of the Stirlingshire dairy, signalled plans for the sale of skyr throughout the UK in coming months.
The Stirlingshire dairy declared that skyr, which is made from skimmed milk, had “nutritional properties similar to Greek yoghurt”.
Graham’s said its high-protein skyr is being made with Scottish milk from its 100 “farming partners”. It features live cultures and “carefully sourced fruit”.
The dairy is launching skyr in flavours including natural, lemon, strawberry, Victoria plum, and passion fruit, mango and papaya.
As well as milk, the product range of Graham’s already includes butter, cream, Scottish cheddar, ice cream, and protein-rich soft cheese quark.
Bridge of Allan-based Graham’s has, in recent times, focused sharply on diversifying its product range, as well as building up its exports.
Mr Graham said: “Product development is always high on our agenda. We pride ourselves on being innovative, as well as responding to the needs of our customers.”
He added: “Our quark products have been incredibly well received and we’re glad to be launching the first skyr produced in Scotland.
“With our new listings in Scotland, we plan to expand our reach throughout the UK in the coming months and I’m excited to hear feedback from our customers across the country.”
Skyr launched in Aldi and Sainsbury stores last Thursday. It is due to launch in Home Bargains’ stores across Scotland in mid-March.
