Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 416 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1235 per head and 264.2p per kg to average £843.32 and 226.9p (-1.7p on the fortnight), while 606 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1375 and 317.4p to level at £933.31 and 235.6p (+3.5p). Fifty-five store, B&W bullocks sold to £980 and 184.1p to average £748.45 and 158.3p (+5.6p).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 3461 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £110 per head and 278p per kg to average 169p (no change on the week), while 91 prime lambs peaked at £100 and 222p to level at 192p (no comparison).
The firm also had 2742 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £158 for Texels and averaged £84.54 (-48p), while light ewes peaked at £89 for Lleyns and levelled at £48.55 (+£2.49). Rams sold to £146 for a Suffolk and averaged £90.
