Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 504 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £100 per head and 208.6p per kg to average 182.6p (-9.1p on the week), while 322 prime lambs peaked at £125 and 264.3p to level at 229.2p (-14.2p).

The 442 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £120 for Texels and average £72.14, while light ewes peaked at £59 for Blackfaces and levelled at £50.98.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 47 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 249p per kg and an average of 222p (+1p), while 14 prime bullocks peaked at 239p and levelled at 225p (+6p).

In the rough ring 47 beef cows averaged 151p (+4p).

There were also 474 prime hoggs that sold to £125 and 228p to average £85 and 187p (+12p), while 435 prime lambs peaked at £130 and 292p to level at £108 and 258p (+30p).

The 316 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £111 for Suffolks and average £85, while light ewes peaked at £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £59.

The firm also sold 23 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 226.5p and an average of 191.9p (-8.2p), while 21 prime bullocks peaked at 219.5p and levelled at 195.6p (-1.1p). Nineteen prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 211.5p and averaged 187.8p (-4.3p), while 18 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 188.5p and levelled at 165.3p (-12.1p).

In the rough ring 55 beef cows sold to 187.5p and averaged 140.6p (-3.7p), while 120 dairy cows peaked at 156.5p and levelled at 109.8p (-7.4p).

There were also 176 prime hoggs that sold to £110.30 and 212.6p to average 171.3p (-12.4p), while 460 prime lambs peaked at £122.80 and 297p to level at 243.5p (+9.2p).
