C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 29 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 215.9p per kg and an average of 181.9p (-32.1p on the fortnight), while 80 store bullocks peaked at 250p and levelled at 214.2p (-9.4p). Five store bulls sold to 235.7p and averaged 203.8p (no comparison).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1,487 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £126 per head and 261.4p per kg to average 226.5p (+3.7p on the week).

A big show of 670 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £147.50 for Texels and average £89.14, while light ewes peaked at £65.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £56.21.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 36 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 232p (+7p), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 249p and levelled at 228p (+7p).

In the rough ring 50 beef cows sold to 209p and averaged 153p (+0.5p).

There were also 1186 prime lambs that sold to £127 and 265.9p to average £96 and 228.7p (-2p).

A small show of 146 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £99 for Suffolks and average £88, while light ewes peaked at £89 for Cheviots and levelled at £75.

The firm also sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 223.5p and an average of 198.7p (-1.9p), while 23 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 227.5p and levelled at 202.1p (-4.1p). Three prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 182.5p and averaged 177.2p (no comparison). Forty-six prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 235p and averaged 206.4p (+11.1p), while 41 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 191.5p and levelled at 161.3p (-4p).

In the rough ring 126 beef cows sold to 195.5p and averaged 147.7p (+0.3p), while 140 dairy cows peaked at 169.5p and levelled at 117.2p (-4.7p). Nine bulls sold to 154.5p and averaged 140.4p (-4.1p).

There were also 1633 prime lambs that sold to £128.80 and 298.2p to average 226.1p (-9.9p), while 30 prime hoggs peaked at £74 and 158.5p to level at 141.8p (-6.7p).

The 159 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £127.50 for Beltex and average £83.46, while light ewes peaked at £73.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £55.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 13 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 254p and an average of 247.7p (+2.1p), while 7 prime B&W bullocks peaked at 157.5p and levelled at 149.3p (+3.1p).

In the rough ring 34 beef cows averaged 135p (+1p) and 29 dairy cows levelled at 113p (-1p).

The firm also sold 830 prime lambs to a top of £123.50 and 287p to average 232p (+3.3p), while 58 prime hoggs peaked at £86.50 and 184p to level at 162p (+0.9p).

The 302 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £143.50 for a Texel and average £79.76, while light ewes peaked at £76.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £53.74.
