C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 48 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 287.1p per kg and an average of 225p, while 53 store bullocks peaked at 260p and levelled at 224.5p. Five store bulls sold to 264.7p and averaged 229.6p.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1,937 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £113 per head and 232.1p per kg to average 213.8p (+3.1p on the week).
There were also 1,000 cast sheep forward when all classes were sharper on the week with heavy ewes selling to £156 for a pen of Texels and averaging £79.99, while light ewes peaked at £67 for Blackfaces and levelled at £49.94.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 34 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 231p (+5p), while 23 prime bullocks peaked at 250p and levelled at 231p (+13p).
In the rough ring 40 beef cows sold to £1,673 per head and 195p per kg to average 154p (+11p).
There were also 1,527 prime lambs that sold to £127 and 258.7p to average 222.5p (+14.5p).
A grand show of 351 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £111 for Suffolk crosses and average £88, while light ewes peaked at £73 for Cheviots and levelled at £61.
The firm also sold six prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 228.5p and an average of 199p (-10.7p), while 11 prime bullocks peaked at 225.5p and levelled at 204.6p (+1.2p). Thirty-eight prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 228.5p and averaged 193.6p (+0.6p), while 37 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 174.5p and levelled at 148.4p (+8.4p).
In the rough ring 126 beef cows sold to 215.5p and averaged 152.6p (+13.5p), while 191 dairy cows peaked at 169.5p and levelled at 116.2p (+6.4p). Eleven bulls sold to 159.5p and averaged 139.6p (+11.4p).
There were also 1,489 prime lambs forward that sold to £121.30 and 300p to average 223.4p (-1.2p).
A modest show of cast sheep saw 100 heavy ewes sell to £101.50 for Texels and average £77.45, while four light ewes peaked at £63.50 for a Jacob and levelled at £48.50.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 14 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 255p and an average of 242p (-2p), while three prime bullocks peaked at 246p and levelled at 228p (+1p).
In the rough ring 40 beef cows averaged 134p (no change), while 20 dairy cows levelled at 112p (+1p). Four bulls averaged 121p (no comparison).
There were also 1,671 prime lambs that sold to £127.50 and 260.2p to average 217.8p (+6.6p).
The 331 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £149 for Texels and averaged £83.73, while 101 light ewes peaked at £81.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £65.20.
