In the rough ring 44 beef cows sold to £1,350 and 185.9p to average 139.6p, while 74 dairy cattle peaked at £1,060 and 145.6p to level at 109.7p. Four bulls sold to £1,690 and 162.5p to average 154.8p, while 14 clean OTM cattle peaked at £1,230 and 175.6p to level at 145.5p.
The firm also had 14 dairy cattle forward at its July sale of pedigree Friesians when the champion animal in the yard was a heifer from Douglas and Robert Buchanan, Laigh Kilphin that sold for 2,180gns. Top prices and averages: Pedigree heifers to 2,180gns and averaged 1746gns for five; pedigree bulls 2,000gns and 1,617gns for three; commercial Friesian heifers in milk £1,700 and £1,587.50 for four; two commercial Friesian bulling heifers fetched £660 each.
Wallets Marts sold 718 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £107 per head and 244p per kg to average 215.8p (-2.9p on the week).
Ewes sold to £123 for Texels and £85 for Mules.
