United Auctions sold 189 store heifers at Stirling on Wednesday to a top of 260.5p per kg and an average of 224.3p (-13.7p on the week), while 350 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 289p and levelled at 233.6p (-4.2p). Fifty-nine store, B&W bullocks sold to 207p and averaged 165.6p (no change), while 14 store bulls peaked at 251.7p and levelled at 183.2p (no comparison).

C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 7 prime heifers in Dumfries on Wednesday to a top of 225p and an average of 216p

In the rough ring 24 beef cows averaged 136p and 28 dairy cows levelled at 115p.

The firm also sold 1051 prime lambs to a top of £107.50 per head and 227p per kg to average 216p (-1.5p).

A nice show of 301 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £144.50 for Texels and average £84, while light ewes peaked at £79.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £53.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 944 prime lambs in Newton Stewart on Wednesday to a top of £109 and 231.7p to average 214.2p (+5.2p).

The firm went on to sell 74 store heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1260 and 262.5p to average £1048.69 and 226.6p (+2.9p on the fortnight), while 95 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1300 and 264p to level at £1005.05 and 232.9p (+1.8p). Thirteen store, B&W bullocks sold to £880 and 177.8p to level at £804.62 and 166.2p (+12.6p).
