Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 368 store heifers in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of 250p per kg and an average of 202.3p (+6.5p on the year), while 609 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 230.8p and levelled at 205.9p (+0.7p). Seventy-three store, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 182.5p and averaged 141.2p (+4.7p).

Wallets Marts sold 488 store continental-bred heifers in Castle Douglas on Saturday to average £879.06 per head (+£8.41) and 207.7p per kg (+1.1p), while 749 store, continental bullocks levelled at £984.68 (+£8.82) and 218.9p (4.4p). There were also 92 store, native-bred heifers that averaged £740.92 (-95p) and 192.6p (-1.4p), while 157 store, native-bred bullocks levelled at £914.39 (+£136.10) and 204.4p (+7.7p).

There were also 823 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes averaged £54.93 and light/export type ewes levelled at £27.14.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 46 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 260p and an average of 223p (-10p), while 33 prime bullocks peaked at 262p and levelled at 221p (+5p).

In the rough ring 39 beef cows averaged 143p (-2p).

There were also 1747 prime lambs that sold to £94 and 206.3p to average 168p (+7.6p).

The 550 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes average £65 and light ewes level at £25.50.

The firm also sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 205.5p and an average of 183.4p (-2.5p), while 40 prime bullocks peaked at 230.5p and levelled at 206.5p (+7.8p). Forty-nine prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 229.5p and averaged 183.6p (-20.7p), while 20 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 181.5p and levelled at 151.2p (-8.9p).

In the rough ring 200 beef cows averaged 135.7p (+8.8p) and 241 dairy cows levelled at 95.3p (-6.2p).

There were also 1805 prime lambs that sold to £106.80 and 261.9p to average 178.8p (+9.3p).

The 123 heavy cast ewes averaged £58.67 and 32 light ewes levelled at £34.65.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 21 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 254p and an average of 239.8p (-1.2p), while 4 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked 237p and levelled at 225.1p (+4.1p). A couple of prime, B&W bullocks sold to 149.5p and averaged 142p.

In the rough ring 70 beef cows averaged 127p (-9p) and 50 dairy cows levelled at 104p (-8p).

The firm also sold 1730 prime lambs to a top of £96.50 and 212.8p to average 166.4p (+7.4p).

The 212 heavy cast ewes forward averaged £67.78 and 654 light ewes levelled at £32.10.
