LAWRIE & Symington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 255p per kg and an average of 246.3p (+4.1p on the week), while seven prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 242p and levelled at 217.3p (-3.4p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 159.5p and averaged 140.2p (-1.8p).

In the rough ring 66 beef cows averaged 118p (-9p) and 45 dairy cows levelled at 91p (-13p).

The firm also sold 2,737 prime lambs to a top of £100 per head and 227.3p per kg to average 165.8p (-0.6p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 12 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1,368 per head and 240p per kg to average £1,183.03 and 223.9p, while 3 prime bullocks peaked at £1,079.70 and 205p to level at £1014 and 178.5p.

In the rough ring 119 beef cows sold to £1,340 and 175.6p to average 114.3p, while 158 dairy cows peaked at £960 and 123.7p to level at 88.1p. Ten bulls sold to £1,380 and 156.6p to average 105.4p.

There was a bigger show of 17 dairy cattle sold to £1900 on two separate occasions for Holstein Friesian heifers and averaged £1,392.
