C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 160 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of £1500 per head or 638.3p per kg (April-born Limousin Xs) and an average of 186.3p, while 136 store bullocks also peaked at £1500 or 441.2p (February-born Limousin Xs) and levelled at 186.6p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1742 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £90 per head and 200p per kg to average 166.2p (+0.7p on the week).

A large show of 1168 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £125.50 for Texels and average £64.84, while light/ export-type ewes peaked at £55.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £31.84.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 35 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 262p and an average of 239p (+18p), while 13 prime bullocks peaked at 259p and levelled at 219p (no change). A couple of prime bulls sold to 188p and averaged 164p.

In the rough ring 87 beef cows sold to 191p and averaged 131.6p (-3.4p).

There were also 1164 prime lambs that sold to £102 and 217.7p to average 170.7p (+6.2p).

The 556 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £85 for Suffolk Xs and average £71, while light ewes peaked at £83 for Cheviots and levelled at £36.

The firm also sold 14 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 214.5p and an average of 201p (-6p), while 23 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 245.5p and levelled at 212.3p (-1.6p). A prime, dairy-bred bullock fetched 151.5p. Twenty-five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 235.5p and averaged 205.4p (+2.5p), while 39 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 184.5p and levelled at 160.1p (+1.7p).

In the rough ring 105 beef cows sold to 194.5p and averaged 120.3p (-0.9p), while 200 dairy cows peaked at 158.5p and levelled at 97.5p (+1.9p). Eight bulls sold to 134.5p and averaged 106.5p (-7.7p).

There were also 1757 prime lambs that sold to £108.80 and 256.7p to average 173.6p (-3.9p).

The 140 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £108.50 for Texels and averaged £66.51, while 119 light ewes peaked at £45.50 for Woodlands and levelled at £25.85.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 15 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 260p and an average of 245.9p (+13.2p), while 5 prime, B&W bullocks peaked at 131.6p and levelled at 130.7p (-0.7p).

In the rough ring 40 beef cows averaged 120p (-10p) and 41 dairy cows levelled at 89p (-7p).

The firm also sold 1726 prime lambs to a top of £100 and 229.9p to average 166.2p (+1.7p).

The 212 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £120.50 for a Texel and averaged £71.79, while 400 light ewes peaked at £69.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £43.05.
