C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 41 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 232.8p per kg and an average of 212.5p (+26.2p on the fortnight), while 100 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 257p and levelled at 206.4p (+19.8p).

Fifteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 165p and averaged 145.2p (no comparison), and 16 store bulls peaked at 214p and levelled at 204p (n/c).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2,080 prime lambs to a top of £90 per head and 200p per kg to average 168.8p (-2.8p on the week).

A large show of 893 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £106 for a pen of Texels and average £61.18, while light/export-type ewes peaked £56.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £29.99.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 31 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 277p and an average of 235p (+10p), while 11 prime bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 204p (-13p).

In the rough ring 64 beef cows sold to 209p and averaged 137p (+7p).

There were also 1,397 prime lambs that sold to £104 and 198.1p to average £81 and 178.5p (+12p).

A large show of 747 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £91 for Suffolk Crosses and average £72, while light ewes peaked at £83 for Cheviots and levelled at £34.

The firm also sold 17 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 239.5p and an average of 194.9p (-1.9p), while 21 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 249.5p and levelled at 198p (-7.7p).

Thirty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 239.5p and averaged 202p (+6.2p), while 33 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 189.5p and levelled at 161p (-8.8p).

In the rough ring 115 beef cows sold to 216.5p and averaged 127.6p (+0.1p), while 170 dairy cows peaked at 162.5p and levelled at 96.5p (-5.4p).

There were also 76 heavy cast ewes that sold to £89 for a Leicester and averaged £57.92, while 51 light ewes peaked at £64.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £33.02.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 23 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 238.2p (+3.1p), while four prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 215p (-0.6p). Three prime, B&W bullocks sold to 141.5p and averaged 136.5p (-4.1p).

In the rough ring 60 beef cows averaged 130p (+2p) and 33 dairy cows levelled at 92p (+3p).

A large show of 2,066 prime lambs sold to £96.50 and 215.1p to average 172.9p (+0.5p).

There were also 152 heavy cast ewes that sold to £109.50 for a Texel and averaged £72.78, while 351 light ewes peaked at £64.50 for a Cheviot and levelled at £43.50.
