Lawrie & Symington Ltd had 963 store lambs forward in Lanark on Friday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds: Texels to £68 and averaged £59.36; Mules £68 and £51.83; Blackfaces £55 and £33.

Wallets Marts only had 10 store heifers forward at their fortnightly sale in Castle Douglas yesterday that sold to £1210 per head and 183.1p per kg to average £990.91 and 167.8p.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1657 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £90 per head and 200p per kg to average 164.1p (-4.7p on the week).

A poorer show for quality of cast sheep saw 196 heavy ewes sell to £137 and average £61.18, while 298 light/export-type ewes peaked at £77.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £32.80

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 39 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 271p and an average of 235p (no change), while 28 prime bullocks peaked at 245p and levelled at 223p (+19p).

In the rough ring 84 beef cows sold to 209p and averaged 133p (-4p).

There were also 1635 prime lambs that sold to £102 and 220.7p to average 166.3p (-12p).

A smaller show of 396 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £91 for Texels and average £72, while light ewes peaked at £81 for Cheviots and levelled at £37.

The firm also sold 10 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 256.5p and an average of 233.6p (+38.7p), while 17 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 234.5p and levelled at 221.8p (+23.8p). Eight prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to147.5p and averaged 134.7p (-4.7p). Thirty-four prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 237.5p and averaged 200.9p (-1p), while 14 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 175.5p and levelled at 153.6p (-7.5p).

In the rough ring 108 beef cows sold to 195.5p and averaged 128.1p (0.5p), while 250 dairy cows peaked at 153.5p and levelled at 94.3p (-2.1p). Fourteen bulls sold to 183.5p and averaged 118.7p (+7.5p).

There were also 2177 prime lambs that sold to £100 and 245.6p to average 172.5p (-5p).

A nice show of 202 heavy cast ewes sold to £117.50 for Texels and averaged £63.60, while 40 light ewes peaked at £57.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £30.05.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 27 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 260p and an average of 242.5p (+2.4p), while 6 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 248p and levelled at 237p (+5.1p). A couple of prime, B&W bullocks sold to 136p and averaged 134p (-1.2p).

In the rough ring 58 beef cows averaged 131.2p (+1.2p) and 53 dairy cows levelled at 94.1p (+2.1p).

There were also 1978 prime lambs that sold to £95.50 and 214.3p to average 169.5p (-3.4p).

A good show of 341 heavy cast ewes sold to £125.50 for a Texel and averaged £76.72, while 249 light ewes peaked at £68.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £45.75.
