Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 60 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1190 per head and 252.8p per kg to average £811.44 and 205.4p (+3.6p on the fortnight), while 114 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1220 and 264.7p to level at £810.61 and 212.8p (+2.9p). Fourteen store, B&W bullocks sold to £845 and 161p to average £711.15 and 148.6p (+15.8p).
C&D Auction Marts Ltd had another massive entry of 5883 prime lambs forward in Longtown on Thursday that sold to a top of £109 per head and 279p per kg to average 182.1p (+7.8p on the week).
A smaller show of 4277 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £153 for Texels and average £76.92 (+35.82), while light/export-type ewes peaked at £70 for Cheviots and levelled at £37.71 (+£2.27). Rams sold to £155 for a Texel and averaged £69.28.
