Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1,029 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £102.50 per head and 215.2p per kg to average 190.5p.

This was up 11.7p on the week, and up 31.8p on the corresponding sale last year.

There was also a small show of 221 cast sheep that were easily cleared with heavy ewes selling to £154.50 for a pen of Texels and averaging £74.87.

Meanwhile, light/export-type ewes peaked at £57.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £48.20.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 702 prime lambs in Dumfries yesterday to a top of £93 and 213p to average 188.8p (+12.8p).

The firm also had 246 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £136.50 for Texels and averaged £72, while light ewes peaked at £86.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £50.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 18 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 276p per kg and an average of 226p (no change), while 8 prime bullocks peaked at 250p and levelled at 222p (+2p).

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 2327 prime lambs in Lanark yesterday to a top of £105 and 230.5p to average 190.8p (+11.9p).

The 186 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £113.50 for a Texel and averaged £71.58, while 145 light ewes peaked at £64.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £47.88.
