Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 13 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of 245p per kg and an average of 234.9p.

In the rough ring 28 beef cows sold to £1210 per head and 162.9p per kg to average 135.4p, while 102 dairy cows peaked at £1070 and 152.9p to level at 112p. Fourteen clean OTM cattle sold to £1200 and 200p to average 157.7p, while 3 bulls peaked at £1080 and 162.9p to level at 124.5p.

A small show of 7 dairy cattle sold to £1400 for a second-calved Ayrshire and averaged £1147.

Wallets Marts sold 1232 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £119 per head and 284.6p per kg to average £83.34 and 211.2p (+6p on the week).

The firm also sold 155 heavy cast ewes to a top of £103 for Texels and an average of £64.70, while 63 light ewes peaked at £67 for Blackfaces and levelled at £34.43.
