C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 47 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 226.6p per kg and an average of 199.4p (-1.2p on the fortnight), while 119 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 282.1p and levelled at 233.3p (+14.1p). Ten store, B&W bullocks sold to 160p and averaged 137.4p (-5.6p), while 7 store bulls peaked at 244.4p and levelled at 203.4p(-31.3p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2319 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £119 per head and 265.1p per kg to average 223.8p (+17.1p on the week and 60.7p on the corresponding sale last year). Included in that overall average were 975 Blackfaces that peaked at 235.1p and levelled at 210.9p.

There were also 352 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £140.50 for Texels and averaged £79.08, while light/export-type ewes peaked at £76.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £51.66.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 39 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 217p (-4p), while 27 prime bullocks peaked at 246p and levelled at 220p (+1p).

In the rough ring 35 beef cows sold to 219p and averaged 161p (+20p).

There were also 419 prime hoggs that sold to £135 and 282p to average 226.6p (+21p).

A small show of 62 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £135 for Texels and average £110, while light ewes peaked at £87 for Cheviots and levelled at £79.

The firm also sold 25 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 257.5p and an average of 210.4p (-2.8p), while 29 prime bullocks peaked at 238.5p and levelled at 224.7p (+5.6p). Twenty-seven prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 245.5p and averaged 203p (+4.8p), while 16 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 187.5p and levelled at 169.7p (+11.5p).

In the rough ring 40 beef cows sold to 210.5p and averaged 148.9p (+7.2p), while 184 dairy cows peaked at 161.5p and levelled at 112.8p (+0.3p).

There were also 1705 prime hoggs forward that sold to £123.80 and 303.2p to average 233.1p (+23.3p).

A very small show of cast sheep saw 43 heavy ewes sell to £125.50 for Texels and average £73.60, while 13 light ewes peaked at £41.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £33.69.

Lawrie & Symington sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 244.3p (+4.2p), while 8 prime bullocks peaked at 247p and levelled at 223.7p (+5.1p).

In the rough ring 15 beef cows averaged130p (no change) and 65 dairy cows levelled at 114p (+4p).

The firm also sold 2531 prime hoggs to a top of £120.50 and 286p to average 226p (+18.7p).

The 169 heavy cast ewes forward sold to £140.50 for a Texel and averaged £97.50, while 108 light ewes peaked at £77.50 for a Cheviot and levelled at £53.25.
