Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 1334 prime hoggs in Lanark on Monday to a top of £144.50 per head and 337.8p per kg to average 230.8p (-8.2p on the week), while 14 prime lambs peaked at £155.50 and 361.6p to level at 319.4p (-2.6p).
There were also 432 heavy cast ewes forward that sold to £168.50 for a Texel and averaged £95.37, while 249 light/export-type ewes peaked at £82.50 for a Blackface and levelled at £62.59.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 7 prime heifers in Carlisle on Monday to a top of 251.5p per kg and an average of 220.7p (+12.7p), while 23 prime bullocks peaked at 243.5p and levelled at 214.3p (+5.7p). Forty-one prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 227.5p and averaged 194.8p (-7.2p), while 27 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 185.5p and levelled at 156p (-7.7p).
In the rough ring 97 beef cows sold to 188.5p and averaged 149.6p (+1.3p), while 135 dairy cows peaked at 150.5p and levelled at 120.5p (+5.6p). Five bulls sold to 147.5p and averaged 126.2p (-11.3p).
The firm also sold 1618 prime hoggs to a top of £138.80 and 300p to average 248.1p (-19.7p), while 121 prime lambs peaked at £154 and 375p to level at 281p (-37.5p).
A larger show of 218 heavy ewes sold to £125.50 for Charollais and averaged £80.79, while 43 light ewes peaked at £95.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £45.68.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 12 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1447.80 per head and 247p per kg to average £1241.11 and 232.7p.
In the rough ring 62 beef cows sold to £1660 and 184.8p to average 141.3p, while 113 dairy cows peaked at £1150 and 152.6p to level at 113.8p. Eight bulls sold to £1400 and 207.3p to average 115.7p, while 12 clean OTM cattle peaked at £1140 and 207.3p to level at 169.2p.
There were also 8 dairy cattle forward that sold to £1800 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1327.
Wallets Marts sold 109 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £134 and 294.5p to average 242.6p (+37.6p), while a pen of 8 prime lambs fetched £115 or 279.5p (no comparison).
The firm also sold 94 heavy cast ewes to a top of £127 for Texels and an average of £89.66, while 67 light ewes peaked at £76 for Blackfaces and levelled at £57.20.
