Lockton expands into Aberdeen

INSURANCE broker Lockton is launching an Aberdeen office with a team of three account executives set to report to Gordon Duncan, partner and head of Lockton’s corporate risks team in Scotland.
Steven Cox, Keith Miller and Euan McKenzie are set to join Lockton in Aberdeen to help service a growing list of clients across Scotland.
The new office joins operations in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and the company said it would complement its global energy team based in London, which counts a number of Aberdeen-based companies among its clients. 
Mr Duncan said: “Steve, Keith and Euan demonstrate the highly-focused, customer-centric approach to business that is consistent with Lockton's culture. I am confident they will enhance our existing capabilities and deliver further success for our business in Scotland." 
Ian Cooper, head of Lockton's regional business, added: “This is an exciting development for Lockton in Scotland, which has established a firm foothold in the Scottish corporate sector since opening in Glasgow three years ago.”

Social Investment Scotland hires

THIRD sector funder Social Investment Scotland (SIS) has made two new senior hires for its growing team. 
It has appointed seasoned corporate banker, and former Dundee United footballer, Derek Gardiner as investment manager for the west of Scotland.
Chartered accountant Jill Barrow has joined as financial controller. 
Mr Gardiner brings with him 26 years of commercial and corporate banking experience with Bank of Scotland and latterly with Lloyds TSB, as a relationship manager. 
As investment manager for SIS, he will focus on supporting social enterprises and charities across Glasgow, Argyll and the West of Scotland. 
Ms Barrow joins SIS from Baker Tilly, now RSM in Edinburgh. She will oversee the finance function SIS, managing day to day finance and governance – running the audit and risk, and capital and finance committees. 
SIS has more than doubled its headcount in the past six years as part of a long-term strategy to better serve communities across Scotland. 

Fish firm nets new chief

A FISH producer based in the village that was the setting for the recent remake of Whisky Galore has named Elaine Sutherland as its new managing director.
Family-owned Sutherlands of Portsoy is run by Maurice and Elaine Sutherland and has more than a century of experience in the seafood industry. 
As the newly appointed managing director, Ms Sutherland, who has been with the firm more than 20 years, will be overseeing the future development of the business and focusing on growth opportunities within the UK and internationally, whilst continuing her role as finance director.
Praising the strength of Scotland's food and drink sector, Mr Sutherland said: "As we move forward it is very important that we strive to improve operational efficiencies and new product development to ensure customers benefit from our products.”
