Cancer charity names new chief
Beatson Cancer Charity has unveiled financial services veteran Graham Soutar as its new chief executive.
Having held senior executive roles in finance and management for more than 30 years, Greenock born Mr Soutar brings with him a wealth of international experience in senior level management.
He has acted as interim chief executive and has been responsible for the day to day running of the charity since former chief executive David Welch’s departure earlier this year.
Beatson said the appointment will help ensure its continued growth by providing strategic direction to one of Scotland’s leading cancer charities.
Commenting, he said: “After having the opportunity to fulfil this position on an interim basis and to lead what is an exceptional team, it’s a privilege to be appointed. I was overwhelmed at just how much the charity supports cancer patients and their families."
Board seat taken at McCrea
McCrea Financial Services has appointed Jonathan Campbell to its board of directors as part of an ongoing strengthening of the executive team at the Glasgow-based firm.
Mr Campbell takes his seat with a remit to assist with the senior management responsibilities while continuing to assist the firm’s ever-increasing client bank.
McCrea said it had doubled staff numbers in recent years as the business has grown, with client numbers recently exceeding 1,000.
Funds under management now total in excess of £275m and the firm’s profile has increased through sports sponsorships which include Glasgow Warriors and Partick Thistle.
Managing director Douglas McCrea said: “After a number of years working with Jonathan I am delighted to welcome him to the board.
"He has been a great asset for both McCreas and our clients, and I look forward to working with him for years to come”.
Vert Rotors ready for development
Vert Rotors, the Edinburgh-based manufacturer of air compressors, has appointed Geoff Kermode as head of research and development.
Mr Kermode has joined the company to drive its pioneering technology towards a range of applications, which Vert said have clear potential benefits across a huge range of industrial sectors.
He brings with him valuable experience from his time at Bosch Rexroth, where he managed multinational projects and delivered substantial improvements to their hydraulic motors.
Latterly he worked at MacTaggart Scott & Co, leading projects on bespoke high-precision equipment for specialised naval applications.
